Guided Walks

Cost: 20 euros per person (including transport to/from the walk) Join our fully trained and experienced guides for superb walks through stunning Cantabrian countryside and mountains. We offer a variety of routes for groups of 2-4 walkers through the valleys and mountains of this unspoilt and outstanding area of Spain – just choose the option that suits you best and contact us to arrange your walk. The routes offered are located in Western Cantabria and are generally easy and  suitable for all ages and abilities.

Prellezo* Views of the stunning Atlantic coastline and the beaches at Pechón are the highlights of this rugged route. 6 km/3.6 miles Allow 2 hours
Monte Corona* Set in extensive woodland between Comillas and Cabezón de la Sal this undulating walk takes in two ermitas, stunning panoramic views and plenty of opportunities for wildlife-spotting. 9 km/5.6 miles Allow 3 hours
Around San Vicente* This circular walk follows the country lanes through the villages and countryside surrounding San Vicente with excellent opportunities for bird-watching and views of the area. 7.5 km/4.5 miles Allow 2 ½ hours
Saja River Walk* Starting close to the important town Cabezón de la Sal, this walk allows you to explore woodlands, parks and local villages on well-marked paths and roads. 12.5 km/8 miles Allow 3 ½ hours
Renedo de Cabuérniga* The Cabuérniga Valley is the setting for this varied walk through one of Cantabria’s best walking locations. 10 km/6.2 miles Allow 2 ½ -3 hours
Los Bosques (Ucieda)* Starting from a large recreation area just south of Cabezón de la Sal, wide forest tracks lead you through ancient woodland with its abundant flora and fauna. 12.5 km/7.8 miles Allow 3 ½-4 hours
Collado de Carmona* Starting at 2000ft (611m), wide paths take you through unspoilt countryside with splendid views of the Saja and Nansa valleys. 9.75 km/6 miles Allow 3 hours

Option 1 From Bárcena Mayor A lengthy walk through the Saja Besaya Natural Park with stunning views of the local scenery and landscape. 22 km/13.5 miles through a variety of terrains and types of path. Allow 6 hours
Option 2 From Ruente You will enjoy an outstanding valley, spectacular mountain views and a descent through ancient woods teeming with wildlife. 16 km/10 miles on wide, safe tracks Allow 5 hrs

These walks take place in unspoilt and natural surroundings – ideal for nature-lovers, birdwatchers and photographers. As well as suitable clothing (including a waterproof), food and water it is suggested that you bring cameras and binoculars.

How it works

Contact Cantabria Calling with your preferred option and we will arrange a day and meeting point. We will then transport or lead you to the start and guide you on your walk before returning you to the pick-up point. Departure time is 9.30am and our meeting points are at the following locations San Vicente de la Barquera – 1) by Bus Terminal 2) outside campsite Comillas – 1) Car Park Sobrellano      2) outside campsite Cabezón de la Sal – Car Park at roundabout on edge of town at junction of N634 and CA180 to Reinosa.

General Information

This service is available at Easter (21st – 28th March) and from 15th June – 15th September. However, if you find yourselves in Cantabria outside these dates please call us to check availability. Group size 2-4. Payment in cash on the day. We do not accept credit/debit cards or cheques. All routes and transport subject to availability and weather conditions.
